** Please note that this tester is not for testing CVD/HPHT (man made synthetic diamonds). Its main purpose if for only for distinguishing from real natural Diamonds and Moissanite. 
*** Please note that this tester will test only for real Rubies or Sapphires. It will not distinguish between the two. This additional function is meant to help as guide to point out genuine Rubies or Sapphires when testing Diamond or Mosianite. For example you may have a genuine Rubie or Sapphire mixed in with other stones then it will illuminate red with no sound to indicate that this is NOT a Diamond or Mossanite and possible a Ruby or Sapphire.  It will not tell the difference from synthetic to real rubies or sapphires. 
****depending on the quality and type of battery. It is always recommended to buy a high quality alkaline battery from a well known brand.
